Remember The Blue Lagoon? It starred a 15-year old Brooke Shields as one of two children shipwrecked on a deserted island (the other was played by Christopher Atkins), who grow up surrounded by lush tropical nature and well, you can imagine what happens between two gorgeous teens with no supervision. Designer Angela Chen took inspiration from the film for her Spring/Summer 2011 Or by Angela Chen collection for LG's Toronto Fashion Week. Slice.ca was invited to the show and we were lucky enough to talk to the designer herself afterwards, as well as fans and recording artists Shiloh and Keisha Chanté.
The collection was dreamy, light and very wearable for any type of woman. The shapes are flowy and flattering and the palette is a clean mix of white, sand, grey, black and blue. Chen is definitely a designer to watch. She is skilled with fabric and draping and she has a strong point of view which will only grow and get stronger the more she works. Watch the video below and dream of warm beaches and tropical holidays...

The Guide to Finding Perfect Winter Jackets
With winter season definitely upon us, if you haven't got your winter jacket sorted now then you had better do it soon! There are styles for all types of men and women. Sporty men could consider sailing inspired menswear made from tough, durable materials which are built for all-season wear. These men's jackets are water resistant with adjustable cuffs, mesh lining, internal pockets and concealed hoods. They are the ultimate jackets for the sporty man!
Every man should own a timeless classic jacket that he can lean on when nothing else will do. A smart option is our wool jacket which is a more casual alternative to a men's winter coat. The thick wool fabric will keep you warm and happy throughout the winter season. Or for something more casual, try one which is fully quilted with a warm fleece lining. The classic jacket for ladies has got to be the denim jacket, as items don't come more versatile than this! With its semi-fitted shape and dark denim wash it's as flattering as it is stylish and can be thrown on over just about every casual outfit. Alternatively, choose a check wax mac which gives the classic trench coat shape a modern twist.
Take on the winter months in an all-weather jacket. Try to find something which is built to withstand the coldest of temperatures with features such as down and feather quilted fabric, multiple inner and outer pockets and removable hood or soft fleecy inner collar. Mild autumn days or chilly spring evenings may require something a little more light weight. Try looking for lightweight coats which feature the stylish military detailing that is everywhere this season and looks superb over a cotton t-shirt and denim jeans on men Women can don this coat over a little dress, cardigan and chunky boots for a practical yet stylish look.
Other lightweight jacket options that could be considered a little smarter. Are those which have been gently washed to create a soft, vintage effect or otherwise those that feature impeccable detailing such as check sleeve linings, multiple pockets, velvety soft faux suede pocket trims and handy popper buttons at the cuffs. Another top tip is to check if the zip reaches right up to the chin in case of unexpected autumn breezes!
Let's not forget that the more style conscious may prefer a jacket that's a little smarter and can be worn for both work and play. If this is the case we recommend a blazer for both men and women which can be beautifully tailored to create a smart silhouette and boast luxurious detailing include silk trims and quirky velvet lapels.
